In addition, OTSA shall help promote and retain Tamil language and cultural traditions as essential components of multiculturalism in Canada.
To summarize:
- Organize cultural, social and recreational activities
- Assist our members in the process of integration and adaptation to Canadian life style (Language, Culture, etc)
- Work in collaboration with the officials and elected representatives
- Establish rapport with other similar ethnic groups
Our association includes mainly Eelam Tamils and Others. In our Tamil community, it is customary to wish people. ” Vaalai Adi Vaalai Poola Needooli Vaalka “.
Seniors in a community are equivalent to banana trees.
These banana trees give rise to smaller banana trees (akin to children) as well as bunch of fruits (akin to contribution towards society).
Moreover as banana trees and its leaves, stems and fruits are used in all our ceremonies and festivals, it is a cherished tree in our mother country and Canada.
Therefore, the Board of Directors have unanimously selected the ‘Banana Tree’ as the logo for the Ottawa Tamil Seniors Association.
